Aragon race weekend report
Chandler was looking forward to a fresh start in Aragon after the disappointing results of his last race in Jerez, but the first practice out lap had him down on turn 7 due to an oil leak which caused considerable delay in getting important track time.
After this mechanical issue Chandler was able to make good time with good dry weather for the day’s remaining two sessions for Thursday’s official test day.
Qualifying for Aragon saw several set-up issues that we were proving more challenging then first thought, with the team going to all efforts on working on a resolve for Chandler to get more comfortable with the bikes handling. For Chandler turns 1, 2 and turn 3 were presenting an obvious speed difference that was proving to be a challenge to over come and Chandler’s weight at 64kg was proving to be tough on both rider and bike with the inclined turns.
All this still saw Chandler qualifying in a respectable position and he was able to his position on the start grid.
A great start had him pass several riders into turns 2 & 3 but gradually his pace through the hills and aggressive tyre wear had him finish in a comfortable 35th. Considering the weekend Chandler still came away with an improvement in time and confidence was high.
