Chandler gets his 2019 campaign underway at challenging Estoril weekend
The first round of the FIM CEV Repsol championships 2019 took place at Estoril in Portugal last weekend, seeing Chandler Cooper get his new campaign underway in the Moto2 category.
Qualifying went well, in spite of a highside in Q1, and Q2 also saw him performing well – qualifying sixteenth for a mid pack placement on the grid.
Race 1 saw Chandler make a few places from his starting position and he eventually crossed the finish line in a very respectable eleventh place that he was very happy with.
For Race 2 the team changed the bike from a wet set-up to a dry set-up, and it’s possible that the changes weren’t fully dialled in come the start. The bike therefore proved pretty challenging to ride and suffered some pretty severe tyre wear as well as being difficult to handle.
Chandler saw the 18 lap race out though, placing twenty-first – and the Team were pleased with his performance overall, given the difficulties.
The next round is at Valencia towards the end of April.
