FIM CEV Repsol, Rd 2 – Valencia – Weekend report
Chandler Cooper started the CEV Repsol Valencia weekend off the pace, a mix of shoulder injury in recovery, a bike he was still getting to grips with, and running on old tyres across the Thursday.
Nonetheless across the course of the race weekend he was able to bring his time right down into the area he wanted to be and finished Sunday’s Moto2 race in twenty-first position, though he admitted to never feeling quite right with it and not being satisfied overall.
It’s a weekend that Chandler is using as a learning experience and taking away positives. Now he is back in Australia where he will continue with training, the next race being in Catalunya in several weeks’ time – a track the Melbourne youngster is fond of.
“I made a big push in Qualifying but was still not able to ride as I like: overall though I was very happy and looking forward to raceday.
After a great start, Sunday’s race was interrupted with oil on track. My restart was okay but sadly I lost touch with the fast group. Nonetheless I had a good battle towards the end of the race. P21 isn’t bad considering the days leading up to this round, but this Moto2 is definitely a bit of a beast. I know I’ll get my head around it and look to make improvements. Now I’m heading home to Melbourne to do some training and see my family, friends and my personal sponsors. I can’t thank them enough. Muchas Gracias everyone.”
